This course explains the theory of meditation as well as assisting in establishing a daily meditation practice. You will learn what meditation is, the medical research on its many benefits, the different types of meditation from both Eastern and Western perspectives, specific breathing exercises to prepare for meditation. The system of meditation we will be focusing on is based on the Eastern philosophies of Tantra, Raja Yoga, and Vedanta, which has been handed down from teacher to student for thousands of years. You will learn how the Yogis from deep within the Himalayan Mountains prepare themselves mentally for meditation. View photos and detailed explanations of specific Yoga postures to prepare the body for meditation. Many breathing techniques and the major sitting postures for meditation are also explained. A step-by-step guide on how to meditate is presented using several objects of concentration including the 7 major Chakras and 3 minor ones, Mantras, Yantras, light, color, and breath. You’ll also learn how to activate your Kundalini energy.
Two audio CDs will lead the student through 7 different progressive phases of meditation so that students can slowly develop their own way to practice this and at their own speed. You will learn to move the energy within the body to reach a higher vibrational level, experience relaxation, peace, joy, bliss and altered states of consciousness. Upon finishing the course, the student will be prepared to teach meditation to others as a Meditation Facilitator. Included in the price of the course is a study guide with practice questions, assignments and final exam and one meditation textbook and 2 meditation cd’s. A certificate with our gold embossed seal will be awarded from the school when the student obtains a grade of 80% or higher in the course.
